Crankshaft Pulley 94 Paseo

I have a 94 Paseo with power steering and A/C. I was removing the harmonic balancer (crank shaft pulley) and found that the pulley for the alternator drive was seperate. Is this normal? Also there were some rub marks on the timing belt cover from the harmonic balancer. Does anyone know if the timing belt cover and harmonic balancer are avalible at parts store or are they only avalible from Toyota? Much Thanks for any replies, Don

Yeah, its a two part pulley. Unless you have holes in the cover due to the rubbing I wouldn't even bother replacing it. Most likely both are going to be a Toyota parts.

harmonics 66 bucks at autozone. checker has it for 70. unless its actually dragging against the cover or making the engine bounce dont bother with it.

My timing cover has rub marks too. The 3E engine I took out had them also. It seems to be an "E" engine flaw.

I checked at Autozone in PA where I live and they said they didn't have one listed. Are the harmonic balancers the same on all 1.5 litre engines? It's starting to make a helluva racket now so I think I should change it but can't seem to locate one. I am going to check junk yards tommorow, but I doubt they will want to take it off a "good" engine. Any suggestions on where to get one. Thanks Don

I don't think the problem is the pulley. I think the cover looses it's shape with age and heat, and bows out to touch the pulley.

My problem is the harmonic balancer, The drive pulley for the alternator has come loose from the other pulley on the harmonic balancer, it's rattleing all around, and the alternator belt just broke, Again does anyone know of a source for these pulleys? Thanks Don

Sorry. I got off on a tangent about the timing cover.

How much does Toyota want for the pulleys?
By the way, how many miles on your car? I want to know when to start planning for a pulley replacement on mine.

Haven't contacted Toyota yet, I found one at a local junkyard, am going to get it on Wednesday. 205,000 miles on it, rumor has it that the harmonic balancer is avalible at Autozone, but here in PA it isn't avalible. I will let you know how it turns out.
