how to remove automatic shifter? 92 Paseo

(92 Paseo) the sliding part that hides the guts of the automatic shifter is missing so I want to install a new one but I can't seem to figure out how to take the shifter off. Any tips?
Thanks,
Dan

First you need to remove the console. Then you'll see the three phillps head screws holding down the cover that contains the sliding part. Then to remove the cover itself, you'll have to remove the single phillips head screw that holds the shift handle on. Then slide the shift handle upwards. You'll find that the wires to the overdrive switch must be disconnected. Not sure if you'll have to cut them or if they can be disconnected another way. I didn't take mine that far apart.
