i just bought a 92 paseo that needs a clutch and cv joint. well the manual ive read says to unbolt the front and rear motor mounts from the body after supporting engine on hoiste. is this required? or can i just jack up the tranny and slide it out.
The manual tells you the easiest way that is less likely to damage anything. You can jack up the tranny and attempt to slide it out, but you won't have much room left to work. Many people have done it that way though. Welcome to the site.
would someone please explain to me why there are 5 body mounting bolts for the rear mount that are torqued to 19349823498r3298u423904230948ul ftlbs????
If you don't have an engine hoist, you can probably put a floor jack with a 2x4 on it, under the oil pan and lower it that way. Just watch out for your pulleys contacting the body.
That is how I did it on my Camry, but I was dealing with an auto, and the clearance requirements are less with the auto.
Good luck.
