What can I do to improve gasmileage/performance on my Paseo 5EFE engine? Am not looking for hard core performance upgrade, just some basic information and suggestions. Am doing a total tuneup including new premium plugs, going to synthetic oil. Is it worth upgrading the air intake volume? Any help appreciated.
if you get an open KN cone filter that sucks totally cold air ur gas mileage goes up for sure....... try using injector cleaner from LUCAS OIL........ helped me... from one gas tank i use to get 500 km and now i get over 600 KM........... and i guess don't drive like a maniac lol like all guys do......... hope tat helps
Pumping up your tires to the maximum sidewall pressure is good for a little boost in fuel economy. Other than that, driving like a non-crazy person helps more than anything. Using a few driving techniques can really boost it up. Last fill on my 97 Paseo was 47.9 mpg, and thats in the dead of winter.

Thanks, where do I get a KN Cone filter (kit?) in Canada? Sounds like a great idea.
i live in canada too soo i went to PART SOURCE dunno if you have them there.... but if you do have a PART SOURCE........ you can order one from them... they just put a order through u can pick it up in a week or so...... if you don't have a part source then u can shop around i guess
performance and fuel economy are not very good friends so to speak. yes adding a after market filter will improve engine efficientsy but really anything you add that makes you go faster will generally mean dumping more fuel or throwing off your fuel to air ratio. I mean sure you can add a cold air, get an exhaust, use lighter cam gears and pulleys, install bigger injectors but by the time you even add all that you need a stand alone fuel management system to even balance out your fuel to air ratio to balance your economy needs which in turn sacrifices your performance. bottom line, they both exist in a very small area.
