Tercel 1994 wont start.

My tercel 1994 version 15 turbo diesel automatic wont start up. when i turn the ignition the engine tries to start but it wont. then lots of white smoke comes out of the exsuast system, the engine is perfectly oiled and has water.my feriend told me you have water in your fuel tank can this be true please help with the problem thanks.

I don't know much about diesels but I have seen those symptoms on some of the units we have at work when it gets very cold.

Does your car have glow plugs? are they heating?

What we do at work to start our diesels in the cold is spray starter fluid into the intake and that usually helps.

it had water in it and you probably flooded it now. which sucks but go buy a can of ether(starting fluid) and spray some into the intake with the filter off and then try to start. keep repeating until it starts. usually you need to change your fuel filter after this happens.

thanks a lot for replying i had found that it was an electrical problem coming from the alternator that was not charching thnx a lot.

I am sure helps also meant to add not to use too much ether at one time because it can lock they engine up and would be a pain in the ass to correct.
