Im about to purchase the motor from these guys http://www.nippon-motors.com/toyota.htm you guys ever heard of em or bought anything from them? they say its 350 for a complete motor, good price? i have a 91 tercel auto, and the motor is really bad smokes when i start it smokes when i drive it. I'm going to use the same tranny but i was wondering if i use the same wiring harness when i swap?
Does your current engine stop smoking after warmed up? Bad valve stem seals can cause a lot of smoke at cold start up and for a time afterward.
Toyota seals tend to harden if the engine sits for a long time (few months) with engine off hence Vikz99 advice.
Not up on this vender but if you do purchase this engine make sure it is a complete motor. Sometimes what passes for a complete motor arrives as a stripped down one.
it burns the most when just starting and the smoke is less when the car is warmed up but still burns oil. the motor in the car is actually junk yard parts so who knows how long the parts been sitting there, the car was given to me with a blown motor so me and my pops just went to the junkyard and picked up the nicest block and head we could find. The car was in iowa and we bolted the motor in and drove it all the way up to mpls. I have no intetions to workin on the current motor id rather swap in a twin cam. I know the motor and tranny will bolt up, just need info on the wiring, any suggestions where to search or anybody know???
damn shipping is to much 275, almost the cost of the motor, so no purchase was made. so i guess im going to have to work on this motor after all. So you guys say to changed the valve seals? Where can i purchase these?
the two harnesses are not plug and play, at least not in Canada, and i doubt they are in the U.S. , your best bet is to put a set of rings and valve seals in your 3E, thats what i did to my car, i wanted to just put a paseo head on my 3E block but the catch is the extra sensor in the paseos distributor and the 3E ECU will not run that.

All I did was put the paseo motor in with everything else. And I used the original ecu for the 3ee. As long as you have a 16pin and a 26pin you should be fine both ecus will work. I also took the inners out of the 3ee dis. and converted the 5efe dis this worked fine for me.But I also found that the check engine light stays on with the 5efe ecu.I must say though the check engine light doesn't get on my nerves as much. I can also rev to 7000 rpms instead of 52-56 rpms.
Hey 4agetercel was your 4age swap worth it? And how hard was it to do?
not quite done yet, that name i put up there when i was looking for advice on it, im buying some GZE pistons for it and im in the hunt for the engine, the engine side will bolt in but the tranny mounts need to be fabricated with some cutting of the frame, when thats all done it will be worth it for me because its just getting it done and driving it, 4A-GE is more power handleing than any "E" series engine, if you wanna see an engine swap actually done go on www.tercelonline.com and search for senlessfool he has a 4A-GE swap done in his paseo
I'm familar with the procedure I just thought maybe you did it thats all.I my self was looking into doing the 7afe mix with the 4agze head but im going to build the motor for turbo 7aze. taking my time on it ive already done the 5efe swap that was too easy i wished i would have done that along time ago.lol oh well
