Hi,
I just got a 90 toyota tercel as my first car. I'm really new to cars and im not sure how to buy rims for this one... I would go for spinning caps with retention rings, but those won't fit on my tercel. The center of the tire, which should be indented with room for the rings has four bolts instead... are spinning rims difficult to find for this model? please send me a link to purchase these if you can find one.
thanks
LOL, I was thinking the same thing, but to each his own! If you really want spinners, you will have to lift your car about an inch or two (look for Toyota Starlet Hill Climb Gear made for Rally Cars) and probably run a wheel spacer with longer studs. I have seen a Civic with them, but I don't know if that was special made, made to fit, or what. Check a Low Rider magazine also. Welcome to the site.
DONT put spinners on your tercel...that's just wrong.. toyota aren't meant for that.. only honda's are! and those spinners look so damm cheap too! rather just have a black basic rim, and no hubcaps!
lol what do u all have against spinners? Im a teenager thats what we do lol, the tuneup can wait, spinners are top on my list. Thanks pseo, at least you lent a bro sum help instead of trashing his dreams. P.S. the rest of the car is getting pimped (scoop paintjob spoiler) so i thought spinners would be the cherry on my sundae.
Peace
lol im only a teenager too.... but WHY SPINNERS? why not get some nice looking rims for cheap? and please dont buy the plastic hubcap spinners... ur gonna get laughed at by all the people that see your car.... go buy a honda if your going to put plastic spinners on a car...
My advice is to start shaving some cash. I know it is hard at your age, but you can do it. I don't knock your choice, do what makes you happy, it's your car. But please, if you really want spinners, save for the rims and not the hubcaps. The only thing worse than a Ricer is a Poser and trust me, everybody will know.
yeah.. save the $200 and it will work to your advantage later on when you can afford to buy rims, cuz if you shoot $200 on spinners, your back at $0.. so save it on the side, until you have enough saved to get yourself rims. Getting laughed at on the streets would be embarassing. Even when I see ppl wid spinners in toronto (which i hardly do, cuz no one buys them) I look at them and I just nod.
PLUS those spinners get stuck after awhile, due to all the dirt on teh streets.. so later on they won't even spin, or heck they might even fly off when your driving. :p
I say keep the stock basic rims on, if their greyish and you dont like how they look (don't like that color either), paint them black(which i did), it will look a lot better. Check how it looks.
lol im only 18.... and im a college student that i have to pay for my tuition fees and books... dont complain about having money.... im running intake, headers, exhaust, k-sport coilovers, and rims that i got for 350 bucks including the tires... got them at pepboys for a deal...14x6
Thanks for the info everyone... but seriously i thot spinners were "in". I was wondering why i've seen 0 people with them, i shoulda done the math . Anyways nice wheels for under 200$ thoughthard. Errr... i dont know anything about rims so what would i need to replace mine, theyre 14". Btw, my tires are brand new so i just need rims. Meanwhile, im gonna take vikz's idea with the black spraypaint
Peace
You need a 4x100 bolt pattern wheel with an offset between +35 and +45. +40 is the best fit and most people stick with 14",15", and 16" wheels unless they are going for show or trying to fit a Front Big Brake Upgrade. The new trend now is back to the smaller wheels. 13"-16" are hot right now. I personally like 15" because they are big enough to find alot of different tire choices, you can get 15x7 wheels pretty easy, it is only +1 size for a Paseo, so no fitment or driveline issues, and you can still fit a moderate upsized brake package on your car (most Big Brake Kits require 17" wheels). Even Rappers stopped buying Spinners after the Hood Cats down South jumped on them. Naw man, smaller is in for an Import.
thanks paseo im gonna write down those numbers and stick them in my glove till I can cough up the money for wheels. Anyways im gonna post a pic here as soon as i finish painting the stocks incase anyone is interested... I'll prolly have it up friday.
peace
