Muffler question

I have a 96 tercel and was wondering if i installed an aftermarket muffler if it would give the car a deeper sound or make it louder or if it wouldnt affect it. I always see cars with the wide diameter exhausts that look cool. Are these complicated to install? This is all pretty new to me so any advice is helpful. Thanks

If deep is what you want I would get a flowmaster 60 series.
Thats what I have and its sounds great. I've been through all the so called high performance mufflers or 'aka' fart cannons, they all sound like shit. Its not as loud as the fartcan when you get on it's deep.
and you need to get it welded on at a muffler shop.
