New Forum Member questions on 93' Paseo eng swap

hey this is my first post, I bought a 93' Paseo for $100 bucks, doesn't run, needs basic tune up, new battery, and engine has 179,000 miles. I'm currently planning on replacing the engine and auto transmission with the JDM 4EFTE w/ 5 speed transmission.

My question is what should I do prior to the swap and what needs to be one in order to make the paseo running again with the new engine. I did a search prior to the post and things were mentioned with the ECU and wiring; just slightly confused what that is and can a mechanic do that while putting in the new engine. Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions.
