daytime running lights on a paseo

i notice on my car the lights come on with the tail lights, and other people i see with the cars like mine doesn't have them on or just the have the front lights on. was this a feature on this car, or is the way i can take them off. and turn them on only when i need to?

i've noticed that with the 90 AE92, they always stay on, and thought there was a photo sensor on the dash,but i don't see anything.....usually the photo sensor burns out and the sensor reads "dark" so the tail lights stays on....
