To all the Paseo owners..

Admins, sorry this is in the General Discussion but because we don't have a specfic Paseo section I didn't know where to post it, feel free to move it though.

My brother wants to buy a 1992 Paseo and I need to know if there are common problems with these cars so I can make sure the car is in good shape. Any common rut problems, engine, tranny or anything like that??

Any help would be appreciated, I will take the car to a mechanic to get it checked before he buys it, but it would be nice to know where to double-check.

Thanks in advance

I know, I keep bugging them about that too. The closest to a Paseo section is the Tercel/Echo section, because those cars all share the same platform.

There's no serious problems you should worry about. The whole car is very strong, and very simple. So very little ever goes wrong. Trust me, I know. I've been driving my car like hell for 4 years now, and nothing has EVER broken. Some things have worn out (as you would expect), but nothing has ever actually broken down.
Some major things that you should expect to wear out:
Piston Rings, they wear at around 100,000km.
Alternator, it goes at about 130,000km.
Other things are stuff that you would normally expect on any car that age. Brakes, shocks, timing belt, etc.

The only problem I ever had with my 92Paseo is the Fuel Pump, other then that its a solid car.

The only thing thats gone wrong with my 92 Paseo in 5 or so years of ownership is the alternator. Other than that, she likes to burn a bit of oil, nothing big; I just make it a point to check once a week and add as needed. Great car otherwise. I'm selling her in the spring though for an Echo Hatch!
