1600 is stupid. A fender might be 80 bux and the same for a hood. New light around 40 and the corner light about 30. Paint at maaco under 600.
Sometimes you have to stand up and go off on these people or they railroad you. I worked for a huge company years ago as a dispatcher for dump trucks. One of my drivers came to me and said he'd been hit in his personal car and the other company wanted to give him 500 and take his car. That was blue book value. I called the company for him and in a relatively calm but stern voice informed them that the offer wasn't acceptable. I explained that this man lived 45 miles from his job and this car was dependable in the manner that it had not failed once in the 5 years I had been there. The car was a 69 and this was in 82 (many of you weren't even born..) . We went back and forth on that until she first raised the offer to 900 then later said he could keep the car and get the 900. It took a good 3 hours of arguing and keeping cool while presenting things like "if you'll replace his car with a car YOU can find for 500 that will bring him to work everyday for 2 years without a single day down we'll take it" and "only the bumper is bent but you're trying to get us to buy a car with a wrecked door".
Stick to it! You may win.
ps, I was only 19 at the time!

Sorry to hear. It pisses me off to think that there are people who go around damaging other peoples cars without a care in the world. Good to hear that it will be fixed for free though, the damage only looks minor so it shouldn't cost the insurance company much at all really.

Hold up! Let them write you a check then get it fixed yourself. Letting them do it is how they make money. The scare tactic was just that, to get you to go along easy. Get a check and pocket the difference.
Sorry to hear what has happened to your car, glad its covered though!
Unfortunately ICBC is basically government operated as any car insured in BC needs to be insured at ICBC for basic coverage so it might be slightly more difficult.
Though are you paying the deductible or is it covered by them?
for anyone who is wondering the car still isn't fixed waiting for body shop to get new head and signal light the hood and fender are going to be repaired and repainted

$1600 is alot but labor is $100 an hour or more and they are giving the bodyshop 5 days to repair my car and on my repair sheet I got from ICBC they are giving them 8 hours to repair the hood like two or 3 hours for the fender I dont remember how long they are giving them to paint it and I think like 3 hours to put the new lights in and I think you might laugh at that but I really dont care how much they over pay the bodyshop as long as my car gets fixed right and painted nicely
well the 1st is Canada Day so I drove to a different city to watch some fireworks and I ended up on a dirt road and there were 3 atv's kicking up alot of dust I couldn't see so I passed them then I pulled over to turn around and a guy got off and started to harass us (there was me and another guy in the car) and they were blocking me from turning around so I peeled out and drove down the road some more tryed to turn around they blocked me again so I backed up and stoped then two of them picked up rocks and threw them at the windshield I was really mad then and I tryed running them over (not the best thing to do) went into the ditch and got stuck they tryed getting into the car and they were going to beat us good there were 6 of them so I grabbed my phone and called 911 then they all took off the cops showed up I told them what happened they took some pic's then they started looking for the atv's and I really diddent want to stay the night there so I drove home slowly that's what happend
