Where is '91 Tercel 3ee Mass Airflow Sensor located?

I have a 1991 Tercel, 3ee, auto trans, 105,000 original miles. I have been chasing the cause of a DTC code 25, lean condition, for two months.

Been through my Haynes about 15 times, found all the other sensors my car is supposed to have, but I cannot find the Mass Airflow Sensor. I am hoping that it is the problem, because all other sensors test fine, all vacuum lines are good, PCV is clear, air intake plumbing is tight and I put in a new o2 just to be sure that that was in super fine form.

The car starts, idles and runs like a top. Mileage is good.

But there's that code 25. And after I clear it, despite the "2 trip detection logic", it takes at least 12 trips for the CEL to come back on with code 25.

Where is that thing???????

You are not right.

Your Tercel doesn't have a mass airflow sensor, it has a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. Its located on the firewall.

That's what I was afraid of. Haynes says a bad MAP sensor sets code 31, not 25.

I've had it. I give up.

Thanks for the replies.
