I had a previous post about my 95 toyota tercel not starting because of an electrical problem and my temperature gauge saying that it's overheating. Well the problem was the battery cables and now it starts.
We have another problem now, it really is overheating. I'm not sure. There is no water leak, but there is an oil leak. My dad said he was going to take out the thermostat, but will that fix it? And if it doesn't what else would it be?
Stuck thermostat is possible but unlikely. Was there coolant in the rad when you opened it? If the rad is low, add water and run the engine again to check for leaks. The cooling system may have gotten low enough that the leak stopped. Check the condition of your oil. If it looks like muddy waterm the head gasket is bad. Is your water pump seized? Any belt squealing before the problem started?

It has water in it still and my dad fixed the leak awhile back. So it's okay. I'm thinking when my dad cleaned out the radiator by running water through it, it was looking rusty muddy looking. so maybe the head gasket thing is right. It isn't overheating as bad though, it does slightly go up.
CHECK YOUR WATER PUMP make sure thats not the problem good luck MANY MINDS ARE GREATER THAN ONE REMEMBER THAT. THATS WHY WE ARE ALL HERE TO LEARN OFF ONE ANOTHER AND GAIN KNOWLEDGE

Back on topic. If the coolant was rusty, muddy looking that doesn't necessarily mean the HG is bad. The condition of your oil is what I was referring to as "muddy". When coolant and oil mix while getting pumped around the engine, it creates an emulsion that look like muddy water and is a significant sign of an HG gone bad. Another would be oil floating in the coolant and decreasing coolant level.
