manifold collector bolts/nuts keep coming loose

I have a '92 Paseo, actually have two, 1 automatic for the wife and a 5 speed for myself. My problem is I have had to replace the exhaust manifold collector gasket at least 5 times and need to do it again because the bolts/nuts keep loosening. I'm glad its an easy job but it sure is annoying, especially since the other car never has that problem. Help?

You need to use jamb nuts otherwise they will always come loose. If you look at the original nuts they have a small shoulder on them that's crushed. That's to stop them from coming loose. If you just have regular nuts then put another one on and lock them against each other. Or get the right ones from the dealer.

Try putting some Loctite thread compound on the threads before putting the nuts back on. They should hold on firmly after that. Also, it always pays to re-tighten the nuts once the car has reached normal operating temperature.

also make sure you're using the metal 2 layer gasket, the other kind will keep blowing out on you.
