Loose air vents, point downward.

All three of my heat/AC vents are very loose and just fall downward blowing air down. Other than sticking some cardboard under them to prop them in place what have others done to repair a similar problem? Was there something like foam under them to hold them in place at one time?

Sounds like you need some reverse WD-40. I would spray something sticky into the little hinge plastic hinge that they rotate on. I got pine tree sap in a vent of my last car somehow and it became very difficult to move.

No it doesnt use foam, that would cost money, they just make the plastic vent a bit bigger so it gets stuck. U might wanna just pop out them and see where the WEAR is, and then simply think of a cheap way to fix it. Silicone, gooey glue that dries hard or flexible, just from the top of my head :P All you need is a DAB on where the wear was or the hole. Air vents usualy have a MALE thing sticking out on the vent it self, and in the hole is usualy the female holes, i would put a dab of silicone on the male part, so its a bit "larger" so it wont spin freely.

oh tat came out wrong LOL

I went to a local crafts store (called Micheal's) and bought a 12"x12" sheet of black felt that has a self adhesive backing. I cut out strips and stuck them under the movable part of the vents. A couple were so loose I had to put a strip above the vent as well. So far it's working very well.
