96 paseo head rebuild need advise

i have a 96 paseo and lately it started ticking and oil is dissapearing, so im thinking of getting a head from a wrecker and take that to a machine shop to get it rebuilt.
Its really hard to find a second gen paseo around here and since the tercel has the same motor i should be able to use a tercel head, but the problem is that my paseo has all of that egr crap on it and most of the tercels at the wreckers dont have all the vacuum lines and egr crap on them.
would i be able to use the tercel head without the egr system, and also is it a good idea to get the whole head rebuilt, if i could get a head with less than say 80 - 90 k on it should i really get it rebuild or just resurfaced.

p.s.
i did a compression test and all cylinders seem to have good compression
also any tips or good tutorials on replacing head + gasket

Call and see what that would cost vs buying one already built through a local machine shop. I've priced one from an online source at $395usd.

That's something I'm not familiar with. I don't know if the egr port is there and you just use your intake or what.
