new guy here!

hi all, im new here but not to forums at all. I have a 93 paseo that i got for $700 and i have to say i think im hooked, for the millage and use it had before i bought it, it is in decent condition. that being said i am very familiar with working on cars and i am not sure about a couple things, it idles at 900 rpm i think thats a little high, or am i wrong? it runs rough enough to shake the steering wheel at idle and has a vibration through out the rpm range. it did over heat and blow the head gasket before and the previous owner put a new one in. i have done a tune up ( cap, rotor, wires, plugs, pcv, air filter, oil change) and its no diffrent but i do get around 33 to 35 mpg! much better than my chevy 2500 that gets 10mpg hahaha is there anything notoriously wrong with the 5e that i missed? thank you all i hope to hear from some one

900 is dead accurate. Most 4 bangers have a slight vibration but if it's worse than that check for skips. My 92 has a strange habit of getting water inside one spark plug tube. Once the water is so deep the plug misfires. It starts at higher temperatures under load and becomes a full time skip until dried. I'm suspect of the scoop on the hood that I did not install and yes it has an open hole to the engine.

Your car should idle at around 750 RPM. To adjust it, see image.

You can check your ignition coil, primary resistance and secondary resistance (see image)

You might want to check your timing belt, if it has skipped teeth.

Use a timing light and check for proper timing. (10 degrees BTDC)

Broken motor mounts can transmit lots of vibration even when the engine tuned properly. Rev the motor up and down by hand and look for excessive engine movement.

Mine had a skip after doing a tune up found that #2 cylinder was causing the skip. Found the injector was bad replaced the injector and the skip is gone now.
