Why No EGR tube?

My 3 -EE doesn't have a feed tube to the EGR valve.(1993 CA)
How does the exhaust get back to the valve.
Not through a port in the head , I hope!

not quite sure i follow the question,
but have you got a vacuum diagram to look at?
1993's have a 3E-E engine, possibly the 3E.
and is it possible you don't have a California model or have a replaced engine?

in the diagrams i have in the chilton book
for the 3E-E the hose to the exhaust connects through the bottom of the EGR where it T's to the EGR vacuum modulator as well, somewhere near the gas temp sensor.

if you dont have a diagram i can take a pic of my book and post it. if i dont remember pm me

My intake manifold has two holes mating up to th EGR where it attaches to the manifold, one blows exhaust. Usually, there is an external tube feeding the EGR unit as the diagrams suggest. I just wonder why Toyota selected this inferior design. Maybe I answered my own question. No wonder the heads warp and burn up so quickly!
