1990 Celica GTS Drivtrain into a 1990 Tercel?

I'm a newbie to this forum, as if it's not obvious, and I'm also a VW guy and know nothing about engine codes on Toyotas. I read the engine swap post, but couldn't really make heads or tails of it. Here's my story...

My girlfriend has a 1990 Tercel EZ with a Carbureted engine, A/C and a 4 speed but it burns oil like mad. I can get a wrecked (rear end hit) 1990 Celica GTS for free, and am looking for some direction. Is it even possible to perform this swap? I'm not looking to make a race car (OK, maybe an autocross beater when we finally get her a new ride someday), and really am looking to just make the car last a few more years. Also, what else can I swap? Seats, brakes, tranny?

Don't hate me b/c I'm not a tried and true Toyota guy. I'm really a car guy and love everything with 4 wheels and an engine. If anyone has any input, or can direct me somewhere that would be awesome.

Thanks.

i dunno if it's ever been done, but damn, talk about TORQUE STEER CITY if you did get it in there. a more logical approach would be a 5EF-E, or a 4EFT-E. i DID do a 3SGT-E swap into a Celica ST, and it certainly was a challenging drive to say the least. i mean, the Tercel was around the neighborhood of 1900+ change lbs. anyway, good luck with that one!

It'd basically be the same swap I'm doing... http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t27446.html

Thanks for the input. I'm getting input from other places as well, and this is not worth it.

Thanks guys.
