I've got a 92 Paseo and the check engine light came on recently. I checked the code and it came up as a 25. I have a Haynes manual and I hate it. It does very little to help me troubleshoot this code. Where should I begin? The car runs great, but the "check engine" light will not go away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been working on older cars for years, but I am still learning about newer engines with fuel injection and sensors out the wazoo!
check the o2 sensor with a multi meter. i'm not saying that is deffinately the problem but good place to start i can get the list of all the other stuff to check too.
engine ground bolt loose, open E1 circuit, open in injector circuit, fuel line pressure (injector blockage, ect), open or short in oxygen sensor circuit, oxygen sensor, ignition system, engine coolant temp sensor, vacuum sensor, ecm, egr system (for auto and califorina emissions)
i had the same problem on mine i got the toyota manuel. Finally i got rid of it. If you tried everything for teh code 25 try this. the problem on my was the ground on the throtle body. Make a new ground wire keep the orginal there and from there ground it on the negative on the battery. There seems to be a fault on these ground wire. there usually orange with four wires. Then this connect teh battery and that should fix it. it worked on mine 2 months and counting no check engine light.
Yeah, I don't have a ground on the throttle body. There is a ground wire that runs from the passenger inner fender to the engine mount bracket. I checked and retightened these connections as well as the chassis ground that runs in line with the negative battery cable. We'll see if the code comes back. Newer cars are confusing. I've still got a lot to learn!!
Is there another engine ground I am missing?

Well, after wiring brushing and reconnecting the engine ground, I cleared the check engine code and have not had it return for about 5 days. It is hard to believe that sometimes things can be a very easy fix. Than ks so much for the help dexter_5000!
well i took the picture but have no hosting page for it. still looking for one. but i'll try that because mine came back again maybe it one of those wires for me.
