92 Paseo No Spark - where to look?

Hey guys - you have helped me before, and now I'm in a fix that I can't seem to figure out. My 92 Paseo has no spark again. Last time it was the coil, and after replacement it seemed fine again. This time no such luck - tried a JY coil, and then a brand new onee from Autozone (both tested fine), and still no spark. The car just died while driving and had to be pushed into a parking lot. Fortunately it was the lot I park in for work! Anyway, I've now replaced the distributor with a known good one, and replaced the ECU with another from a 92 or 93 5 speed. Numbers were slightly different on it, but it didn't change anything. Still cranks over fine with normal compression, but no spark at all. Checked all the fuses that I can find, and all seem fine. I really don't know where to go next. I have the electronic version of the manual, but it's difficult to navigate, and I'm not a toyota mechanic for the most part. Did my mechanic work on Military goods for a number of years, and prior to this I drove other brands. The Paseo has been an alright car for the most part - can't put too much blame on it since it's got over 200k on it now. The series of events that have taken place lead me to think that something is out of whack with the electrics tho - the alternator went - then the coil, and now still no spark..... come to think of it - could the alternator go dead and cause a no spark condition?

Please - any help would be appreciated as this is my only transportation to work at the moment, and I've been riding public transit for several weeks now. I sick of throwing parts at it that aren't the problem. I now have an extra good distributor, and an extra coil and ECU too.

Rick

if you have a multi meteter check the igniter, and wiring. if you need the steps let me know i'm not saying throw parts at it but you might wanna try testing the igniter to find out if thats your problem.

Did you check the underhood fuses? If the main burns out it won't start. Sometimes the main blows after changing the alternator. I've had it happen to me, but luckily had a spare in my car. The main is the blue one. Check that first. Also, did you change your ignition system? The 92 Paseo has a coil intergrated in the dis, so I am confused.

I've checked all the fuses (it's just a fuse right? Not a relay looking thing eh?), and I'll have a go at the ignitor with my MM. The coil is in the disty, but it can be removed - that's what I did. Replaced the entire disty with one from a known good car and no change. Tried a brand new coild from autozone too - still nothing.

The main fuse from the alt is clear on top and blue on the sides. Also, which car did you get the dist from? Another Paseo? I hope you got your timing right with the dist. Check that stuff and let us know.
