EGR Delete?

Hello All

Just bought a 91 5sp/1500 Tercel. While giving the engine a once over I came accross what looked like a poor attempt at an EGR delete. The 02 sensor wiring harness was disconnected and a small vacume line which originates at the air box(air filter housing) was cut and blocked off. I was surprised the car ran without the 02 sensor pluged in. I plugged it back in and it ran basically the same. I did not get a check engine light at all with or without the 02 sensor connected. Anybody familiar witht this siutation?

Thanks

Does the vacuum line go to egr vacuums? Because there is a vacuum that goes to intake and hooks to egr on 96 tercels, and if it is blocked shut, the EGR will always actuate instead of when it's supposed to.

There are two small ports on the top left corner of the air box. One is hooked to a very small vacume line the one next to it is blocked.
