Angry Electrical Problem

Hello All
Ok this is an ugly little situation. Yesterday I went to switch the lights on. Over the past few days when switching the lights on the dash lights have been popping on after a delay. Yesterday they went out. I have front head lights and dome lights. I have no internal dash lights or tail lights. In addition the alarm sound when you turn off the ignition with the lights on stopped working
I have a sinking feeling it's the combination switch which requries steering column removal. I think it has been replaced already since the switch seems a little loose and there is a slight vibration in the steering column like some goof tried to fix it before and did a sloppy job.
Ummmmm help?
Thanks
MC

Sorry cried Wolf. I guess I'm used to dealing with Fords; in that when something goes wrong it is usually the worst case situation. Blown fuse
If ya didn't know the dash light uses the same circuit as teh tail lights so when your tail lights go your dash goes. It is set up like this so the driver is less likely to drive with the tail lights out since the dash goes as also. Learn something new every day I guess

Well if the fuse blows again, you might have a electrical short someplace. I'm having that same problem right now with my car, just don't put in a higher amp fuse, or you can end up with my problem, melted wires!

Thanks for the heads up. That is a good one! When I pulled the fuse I had to use needle nose pliars. That sucker was not going anywhere! It took some muscle to put teh new fuse in as well. Did you have any warning signs when the wires started going?

Well basically I was smelling something melt, like plastic. I had no idea where it was coming from. But if the fuse keeps on blowing, that's the warning right there too.
