Brand new brake pads, brake pedal still bottoms out!!

I just replaced the brake pads on the paseo, the pedal still bottoms out but now the car is pulling to one side when i brake. Now, pumping the pedal a few times prevents it from bottoming out and gives me some brake response. Am i bleeding the brake system incorrectly?
(i bleed by pushing the caliper inwards while letting oil squirt out of the bleeding nipple, then i tighten it while the oil is still weeping out.). Help will be appreciated ... thanks guys.

Get a friend to push the brake pedal while you bleed the brakes into a jar with a tube. Buy a bleed kit and get some of those quick bleeders to make it super easy.

If you pump the brakes and it gets a little better you probably have a master cylinder problem. Pumping the brakes wont change the pedal feel if you have air in the lines.

when you change out disc brakes you should be able to just take off the master cylinder cover and push the calipers back in no bleeding should be involved. unless you are replacing a caliper and allowing air into the system. you may have to bleed the system now though.

Thanks for the all the replies guys. Bled the brake system with the aquarium air tubes, the brakes are now .. perfect (as can be on a 13 year old car). Looks like i need to change the rear shoes as well. ciao for now.

Hello, you need to adj the back breakes, I recently replaced mine all around and expected the self adjusters to work but they did not so I manually adjusted the back brakes and and I now have the full pedal back. also an easy test to check is how many clicks you have to pull the parking brake handle if it is more than 5 then defanatly adj the back brakes.

those auto adjusters rarely ever work so yes you should always manually adjust the brake shoes with a drum spoon
