I've got a 95 Tercel, 210k, 5spd. Once in a while, when accelerating through the gears, the engine stops accelerating for 1/2 second and then jerks. The fuel filter is new. Could this be the fuel pump, or an electrical problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem before?

I have a similar problem. Whenever the engine was under load, it would hesitate. At constant speeds, it was fine.

I replaced the spark plug wires, spark plugs, cap & rotor. Problem solved.

My tercel doesn't have cap or rotor, and the plugs are new bosh platinum. I once had a check engine light show up, but i just reset the system and ignored it. If it was an oxigen sensor i should be having low gas milage, but i can do around 700Km with 35liters of supreme gas. which i think is pretty good. Could any other sensor cause this? Could it be the fuel pump?
