Has anyone done a 4age engine swap into a trecel?? I have heard some poeple say that the bell housings are the same and some say they arnt. Are axles the same?? do ihave have to swap trannys or can i use the four speed?? do i need to use the spindles off of the mr2 to make the axles fit. Could really use some info on it cause i have an mr2 that has a bady body but the engine only have 85000 miles. and I want to make a sleeper out of my tercel. well the engines are of different families. E vs A. So that means the transmissions are not interchangable, the axles are not the same langth nore diameter. The engine mounts are different and in some 4A installs it requires the tercel frame rail to be modified Although I think a few have been done without. Don't quote me on that one though.

Actually, that's not all correct The 4EFTE (which I'm sure you know is a bolt in swap) uses the C52 tranny, which is the same as some of the Corollas. The bellhousing might be different, but the axles should work, and the mounts should be able to me made to work...

I think that...

I would recommend using the 4EFTE engine, i think it would fit easier than a 4A engine. (do you want a 4AGE 16V or 20V? silver top? black top?) The c52 tranny is used in the 4EFTE Starlet GT Turbo, and the C56 in the Starlet Glanza V. If you are going to use the 4AGE 16V from a MR2, dont use the 4 speed tranny, get a "C" kind!

Good luck!
