93 Tercel...Engine Swap?

Hey guys, let me first say that I just recently stumbled across this forum and been reading the content for a while. Much to say, this is my first post. So Im sorry if theres any doublt posting or what not...but you all seem really cool.

I currently have a 1993 Tercel DX, still with the 3e-e engine...and about 163000 miles on it. Like you guys said...its starting to burn oil (quart to half quart a week or bi weekly). Anyways, I was planning on doing an engine swap the 4efte engine. First off I live in Maryland and dont really have access to driving to other states just to swap an engine, so I was wondering if anyone knew how I could aquire an engine or find an importer.

Once I make the swap, do you guys recommend any other changes during that time? Like new shocks? New fuel pump? New Wheels? If so what would you recommend?

Thanks for everything!

Hey bud,

I'm about a day's drive from you and I can do the 4EFTE swap, finished one a month or so ago. http://www.phoenixtuning.com/

The 4EFTE is a little rare right now, someone needs to go to Japan with one of those Tumblers from Batman and total a bunch of Starlets for us. In the meantime, you may want to look into getting a 5EFHE which is a strong n/a engine that can be turbocharged in stock form, and it's a cheaper swap as it is.

Also be sure to come by www.northeasterntuners.com and board.tercelonline.com

Cool...

So I guess here is where I ask the questions...
Where'd you get your 4efte or any other engine?
Why is the 5efhe cheaper?
Advantages/Differences between the 5efhe/4efte?
What would get more horses/milage of the two engine?

Heh...considering that my AC just died...you wouldnt happen to know any alternatives to solve this problem would you? Supposedly it needs replacing...which is pricey.

Why don't you hit me up by email: drtweak@phoenixtuning.com

As for the a/c, it could be a number of things, but if you need an a/c pump let me know as I do have one sitting around you can have cheap.
