'96 Tercel Lt rear-end knocking

I am hearing a knocking sound coming from the rear directly behind the driver's seat. The sound corresponds to slightly bumpy roads at low speeds. It's a mid-pitched almost clicking sound like maybe from the Lt rear strut. Could the strut be worn-out? I push on the Lt rear bumper and the car returns to normal w/o bouncing and the car DOESN'T ride like a boat on the freeway either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?
TIA

Sounds like the shock or possibly a bearing. If you can get the wheel and drum off, take a look in there. I had a ton of knocking when one of my rear bearings came loose.

To get the the rear strut mount do I need to remove the back seat? If so how do you do this? I've tried, but couldn't get it out.
Yeah, the sound is fairly subtle and only sounds when I drive over rough roads and it's not very rhythm either.

Thanks guys.

The spring broke in my 95 at around 200 000 km, I got a replacement at the scrap yard with a newer strut.

I have the folding rear seats, remove trim behind, lift rear shelf, and your there!

Thanks, but I don't have folding rear seats. It looks liek there are some retaining clips in the top that hook into the rear dack, but I haven't been able to figure out how to undo them to remove the seat back. Any help there?

Pull up the bottom part first, then you will see how to get the top.

Before you go too far though, look under the side of the car right in front of rear tires. There's a metal clip there that was rattling on mine. I put a drop of RVT on each side and it quietened. I have a few other noises here and there but each one you silence is one less you hear.
