hey guys i've been here on TN for a bit and have mostly stayed in events and the MR2 forum. my first love, though was always my Tercel. i figured maybe it was time to post some pics...maybe it'll inspire me to finish her up once again! at one time this was one of three cars in N.America with the particular suspension and wing and other equipment i imported back in 1991. to my knowledge it was one of the first if not only Weber 32/36 DGAV and Electromotive DIS. it's caged and has either 3 point retractable harnesses or 5 point harnesses. it has a full TRD suspension (linier)and is currently under the knife (i am adapting a set of Koni rear shocks, a new upper strut tie bar is being fabricated, and some further lightening is taking place). my dad and i did all of the fabrication including the one-off intake manifold. i have considered a CT12 blow-through turbo set-up but that would take me way out of class. i am also thinking about re-configuring the TRD front swaybar (it's causing waaaaaaaay too much understeer, although the car does handle neutrally depending on how i set the rear mounted battery). i'm also going to fabricate a better panhard bar.

at a local autocross in VA
when i went back to school, there was this snow storm and a great photo op...

Very nice T. I know your all over the place...as am I. When I was at the Toyota Lexus Scion Expo in VA, talking to some of you guys about the Tercels and Starlets that were owned really made me feel like people knew about the potential of those Toyotas. Good luck with whatever you do with her. You know I m going to say go for it.
UTA aka ToyotaTerrorcel
P.S. You could Hybrid a Ct-9/CT-12 set up and work something with that...its a pertty nice set up.
Whats good T? Cars great..took 1st place @ NOPI so for the few that didnt show love to my car, its all good. Check out Tercelonline when you get the chance and search up the NOPI thread and you will see me there. So a few of the guys were talking about me eh?......Good things I hope.
Whoa Cool, Dude i got one too. But with out the wing and suspension. Is urs a us model? And is it 3E or 3E-E? Mines 3E, A/T but it has not stoped me from AutoXing. I'm in The SCCA San Fran Region.
yes, it's a USDM but with a bunch of (oh gawd!) JDM parts. the wing is Toyota Motor Co. Japan...yes, a factory part!!!! the pic from the Yokohama SoloII nationals was for the mid-atlantic region SCCA. i am in the Old Dominion region SCCA currently. i think i am heading over towards N.A.S.A., though...they do a bunch more with HPDE's and i am doing lots more open track events these days with my AW11SC.
Awww. Oh so i cant like find em on the internet or somthing? All i have on mine is a K&N filter, Custom cool air intake, Catback exhaust, and its lowered (i think it bottomed out). Any mods suggest for the 3E? I know some dude is selling cam shafts but is it worth it and about how much power would u think it might add.
i should have some dyno plots uploaded after i get the engine back in, broken-in, and tuned. so, stay tuned! all-in-all, my *conservative* guesstimates on paper put me @ about 118hp to the wheels.
no, those parts were/are difficult to get. three of us actually paid for the container and got the springs, the struts/shocks, front swaybar, and wing. the Safety Devices rollcage was iported my me from the UK. all of my other parts were custom fabricated by me. if you give me till tonight, i will try to find my mods list and will upload it here.
ok--
here's more pics:
from the driver's seat...don't give me crap! i've had this set-up since around 1993. the big thing was a gift.
the 'original' configuration. i think this was around 1993 also.
this is the newer configuration. got rid of the factory carbuer-traitor and got a 32/36 Weber!
side view-note the periscope-grade cam gear inspection window and exact-fit upper strut plates (for the beefy tie bar) that my dad machined for me.
ah! the new cylinder head while i was working on it before assembly...like the stainless steel custom exhaust valves?!?!
the new block--freshly machined, and prepped right before custom brass freeze plugs were installed. i also detailed the block.
the new 5 speed trans...with polished bellhousing and newly powdercoated parts
and the detail inside of the bellhousing.
have yet to be able to locate the mods list for a more complete break-down. yes, i painted the block yellow this last time...only cause i painted my first rebuilt (by me) engine yellow which is also not ford, chevy, or chrysler...but Caterpillar or John Deere, so i went back to it this last rebuild.
Who would have thought...a 3E enhtusiast.... Pretty nice stuff there. Its nice to see a Toyota dedicated individual near my neck of the woods holding it down like that....pretty cool.
