Rain Water In Trunk

Hello: I hope you can help me find a rain water leak in my 97 , 2 door, Tercel. Maybe it has happend to you too. I am getting rain water in my trunk when we have a heavy rain storm, but no rain water during a light rain. It happens when the car is parked. The rain water is showing up on the drivers side , high up on the inside of the trunk, just above the inside hinge & drips down to the wheel well carpet cover. I tryed using a garden hose to re-create a heavy rain, but it did'nt leak. Please help. Thanks ; Dan M.

There is kind of a gutter along the roof line, try forcing water into there.
With the trunk open, check the seal and weld line in the corner, where the trunk lid closes. I have a 95 and it has started to rust but no problems of that sort yet.

Trunk leak

Thanks for you help. I ran a thin wire down that hiddin gutter & it was blocked up and full of dirt & pine neddles & crap. Then I ran the hose & water came flowing out fine, so I did the other side, as well as using black pure silacone around the rear window. I will let you know how it is when we get an other heavey rain storm. I also shot some silacone up in both bottom corners of the trunk when it was opened & it took more than just a little to fill it up. Thanks again, Dan.

Rain water gutters

Hello : Yes the ones on the sides of the roof . They are at all 4 corners of the roof on my 97 Tercel. Why Toyota even has them is any ones gess. During a rain , you can't open the windows. So I bought & installed Vent-Vizors . Now I can open my windows about 2 inches in the hardest rain storms. They work great. Thanks, Dan.

97 Tercel Rain Gutters

HI: I don't have a digital camera & I wish I did. I will discribe them as best I can. Where the roof seams to stop and the door top begins, is a very small "U" bent into the roof . It channles very little water into it (because it is so small) and the water will travel forwards to the hidden channel or to the rearwards to the rear hidden channel , then it travles behind the front or rear molding downward to where it drains the water down the side body of the car. I found out they can get blocked by very small things like tree buds, pine needles & leaves. Thats about it. But I still say, " I wish I had a Digital Camera". Thanks, Dan.

We are finding water in the wheel wells, both sides of the car, in our 1999 Toyota solora and cannot find out where the water is coming from. Rear bumper was taken off, gaskets replaced and rear tail lights taken apart, we cannot find the leak. Also the rug on the floor of the trunk doesn't get wet, just in the wells. Any suggestions as to where the water is coming from?
