Question 96' Temp Gauge Problems

Hi, I have a 96' Tercel, and my Temp gauge does not move at all ...What could be wrong?

Check the Radiator , cap > Both OK warm not very hot.
Could it be the Coolant Sensor, or the Thermostat being stuck? Anyone had this problem.
What would be the process of elimination???

Any Help would great.

I had that prblem in my 93'. All i did was change the thermostat( about $9, i think) and that fixed it. I think someone put the wrong one in before and i had no heat so i changed it, and that fixed it.

Check the connector at the sensor and see if there is anykind of corrosion. Have you OHM'd the sensor?

If you are driving in Southern California in the summer, the engine ought to warm up to normal operating temperature even if the thermostat were stuck open (though it would take longer to reach normal operating temperature, maybe about 20 minutes?).

The temp gauge on my daughter's 92 Tercel stops working intermittently, and the cause turned out to be a poor connection to the temp sensor, as Jeffs94 suggested.
