RTH manual flywheel woes

The story:
so. I got the HD clutch pack from Marlin to install in my brothers T100 (93, 3.0L). tried fitting the pressure plate on, no Bueno. Marlin confirmed that they sent the right parts then later confirmed that the flywheel I was trying to mount onto was actually out of the 3.4L (after I had already gotten it resurfaced). I thought I was first into the clutch, guess not. I couldn't think why somebody would want to replace the clutch with 3.4L components until I tried ordering a 3.0 flywheel from Toyota. After I had preordered it and waited for it to come in, I opened the box to discover....a clutch disk. They apologize and try to locate a flywheel, but apparently they're NLA.

The options:
I could return my clutch kit for one from a 3.4 and reuse the flywheel I have but I'm already way past schedule on getting this done, and more importantly, Marlin said that setup wouldn't last as long and I believe it, seeing the way the clutch had been acting before I decided to replace it. Currently I'm trying to locate one from the 3.0. Napa has one, but they aren't sure if it's meant for RWD or 4wd.

The questions:
Is there a difference between RWD and 4wd manual flywheels?
Would this fit, and should a LUK flywheel be trusted? http://www.partsgeek.com/rf11pj8-toy...mY0aAj0A8P8HAQ
Has anyone else been in this conundrum?

I'm used to dealing with this crap on an 84 land cruiser but I wasn't prepared for the emotional stress that is parts finding on a 93 haha
Thanks all

Luk has been around for a long time but I haven't used one. Here is a site that has several flywheels for the 3.0. Did notice on some sites they state for 2wd only but that is always in about the 3.4.

Flywheel part number fer:

4WD T-100 3.0 engine
13405-65020

2WD T-100 3.0 engine
13405-65010

So to answer yer question...yes, there is a difference between the 2WD and 4WD flywheels. Which one are you looking fer? Have you checked out www.car-part.com to see what used parts that may be near you?

Figured out you need the 4WD one since that part number is showing that it is discontinued.

According to ToyoDIY.com, only the 1993/94/95 T-100 4WD with the 3.0 (3vze) engine used that flywheel. No other 3.0 engine flywheel on the other platforms will work.

If you do end up gitting a used one from the parts yard, make sure there are no cracks in it. Find out if the part will carry any sort of warranty.

They fly wheel in your link should work, and it really shouldn't matter 2WD or 4WD, it's the same engine and trans (just a 4WD version that mates to a tcase).

I would disagree as the 4WD T-100 has a different part number fer the flywheel as noted in my previous post. All the other 3vze platforms don't show this difference but the 4WD T-100 3vze engine does.

All,

Thank you for your help and awesome knowledge. I installed the clutch over the weekend and let it drive for a couple days before coming back to report (cause we all hate those guys that ask questions without ever giving a resolution).

I ended up getting the Napa flywheel because it was available. Never did find out for certain if it was specifically for 2wd or 4wd, but I can say with confidence that...it works! Marlin crawler wasn't lying about a quick engagement either...tippie toes on the clutch and if you let up a hair you're moving. drove on moderately tough dirt roads and an hour to it's home (including a big canyon) and it did just fine, so I call it a success. Thanks again.

(On a side note, I will be putting up the newly resurfaced 3.4 flywheel for sale to recoup the cost the shop charged. drew dot Linton 41 at gmail dot com)
