Hi everyone I got a 1993 t100 v6 3.0 engine 4/4 pick up .. got truck from my uncle's estated after he died an decide to buy it an drive it .. got truck drove it s week an noticed it had water pump leak so went ahead an replace water pump an timing components ..once I went ahead an an put timing belt on gears an water pump roller pull an tensioner pulley all in line an on there marks .. I can not get my fan an tesioner housing to slide over tensioner pulley in order to install hydraulic tensioner an mount housing to engine block..it's like my belt is to small.. it has 193 teeth an all but it is a gates belt an the older belt is not ....you can not play it on an I can not figure out why..orillys auto parts say an swears it the right belt but everyone says my fan an tensioner house should slide right up over the tensioner pulley with belt on my gears pullys ect. With just a little prying ..any one ever had this problem please help if u can ..thank u all Chris
Here r the picture of engine an problem I'm having here is were the fan an tensioner housing will not go of tension pulley an bolt to housing with belt on engine
First of all I would like to thank u for the information but my hydraulic tensioner is not installed an the fan assemble is not able to slide up over tensioner pulley with belt on timing marks an all lined up there is not enough slack in belt to be able to slide fan Assembly over tensioner pulley
Here r some more pictures maybe they will help explain the problem I'm having better then I can in words in first pick is my fan blade housing an tensioner housing assembly in picture two the assembly is slid on but not going up in place to bolt up the tensioner pulley assembly an belt are blocking it from going all the way into place
I can only pry the tensioner pulley up so far before it just want pry anymore in picture here u can see were the pulley assembly is holding off the housing
Before you put on the passenger side pulley, did you take up all of the slack on the driver side belt? Did you make sure that you had tension on the driver side belt between the cam pulley and the crankshaft pulley? If you didn't you might not have enough slack on the passenger side and you might be a tooth off on the passenger side.
Just a thought.
Otherwise, you might have the wrong belt, but I doubt that is the case.
Yeah, on one of his photos I noticed the belt dragging across the pivot and I said to myself, "That ain't right". I just needed visual proof which I eventually found on another forum.
Glad to hear that mystery got solved! I guess that just reminds me why I take so many photos while I'm taking things apart and then going to re-assemble them. Too damn old to remember where everything belongs anymore:crying:
K Watson u were 100% on the money I had tensioner pulley in wrong spot thank u so much problem solved I'll finishing it up in morning an driving it tomorrow thanks guys so much
