new T100 Project

Ok guys I'm new to this forum and pretty new to the toyotas. So first off howdy!

I just picked up a fairly clean 94 T100 4X4 Auto reg cab long bed with 165,000 miles
for a steal of $1000.

YES $1000. truck ran very rough owner thought it needed a valve job.

It did, and really needed a tune up! I currently have the motor tore down and the heads should be done early this week, aslo I had the injectors done as they are hard to get to. So I plan to be in the shop finishing it up a few nights later this week and weekend

I'll try to get some pic up for all to see ASAP.

I bought this truck off the guy that bought it new ad plan to keep it for awhile since I should have just under 2K invested (not counting my hours of labor) .

as I am doing this build I'm putting timing belt water pump etc and plan to convert the hydrolic timing tentioner to the spring type. also will be putting in a knock sensor.

Wish me luck! I didn't take picks as I was tearing it down so I won't have those

I'll start taking them from bottom to top now though so anyone thats curious can see whats involved.

I have them, as a do a few other guys on here. I got my set at a 50% off weekend sale at a self-service yard for $22 with all hardware included. That was a steal. In fact, I just pulled a spare dial face from an Isuzu with Aisin hubs just yesterday!
But on average, a good used set will run you about $100. But then add about $20-$25 for new gaskets and o-rings for them. There is a thread on here where I spelled out all the part numbers and replacment hardware (optional) specs. A new set, if you can find them, will run you $400. Just remember to find IFS units, as the solid axle one won't work. And the Isuzu ones won't work as a unit, but do have a few of the same parts (my spare dial face for instance).

Thanks for the info! sorry I've been away guys. I got the heads back finally. machine shop ran into some issues so it took a extra week. we got the truck back together last noght! shes runnig good so far got a few small kinks to work out. I have the pics and will be getting them on here asap! though I'll admit I'm thinking I would have rather swaped in a chevy 4.3 vortec lol. cost would have been similar and for the time i've been down waiting on parts I'm betting I could have pulled it off in about the same amount of time. (at least in a perfect world lol)

I dont know I'm driving a 98 chevy c1500 auto reg cab swb with a 4.3 and I get around 23 mpg. not 4x4 though.

Did run into a hickup guys the head gasket(s) didnt seal. I have a leak so I'm tearing it down AGAIN lol. I did get to drive it about 8 miles testing it all out. MAN I LOVE THE WAY IT RIDES AND DRIVES!! hopefully be done by mid next week at the LATEST!

I'm having issues getting the pics to load as ell. I'll keep workin on that too

Just put them up in a post. Don't try loading them into your profile gallery.
Put them on photobucket then use the "direct link" copy and click on the little pic of mountains at the top of the post window and paste that link in there.

wow! I've been away WAY TOO LONG!! my appoligies guys work has been crazy and with my own business on the side I havent had time to get on here!!

thanks to all for the info on how to post the pics! I still have them and will try to get them on this evening when I get home!

Also I have put about 5000 miles on the truck and all is good so far! glad its finally getting broke in too, was a little on the weak side but runs out pretty good now!

Im gettin about 20 MPG on average with mostly highway driving. hit 23 once even! (had ALOT of tail wind going back and forth to work for about 3 days lol).

I also just got done with my Reese hitch that I had to cut and weld to fit (was free so it was cheaper to make it work rather than buy a new one). So yesterday we loaded up our two horse trailer with the horses and tried it out. pulled like a champ!

No it has NOTHING on my 98 dodge dually diesel hotrod I had (RIP). but it will serve its purpose looks like which is all I need.

Next up getting rid of that stupid crossover pipe and maybe some custom headers! (meaning me building them as I can't afford to buy them). mostly to help with heating worries I have about #6 cylinder and alum heads lol.
