Black chunks in clutch res. and no fluid

While driving this winter my clutch fluid some how dissapeared. We had some major snow storms in Denver this winter and the 4wd T100 was a saviour for getting around (liquor store, etc). But the snow was pretty deep so it took a lot of clutch work getting it out of some spots, rocking it, reverse to first, that kind of stuff (it's a manual). Then one night the clutch pedal didn't come back up after depressing it. The next day I found black chunks inside the clutch fluid reservoir and no fluid. I couldn't find a leak anywhere. Filled and bled it and have been driving it since without any problems, nice and tight.

Where did the fluid go? Anyone else have anything like this?

Yer bleeder screw could've come loose and sucked in some dirt/water/air. When you drained and bled it out, you most likely tightened up the bleeder screw.

That or yer slave unit could've leaked it all out when it got super cold. Rubber has a tendency to do that...especially if it's old. Surprised that it didn't leak after that. I would keep an eye on yer slave unit though...you might want to even buy a rebuild kit fer cheap and have it ready as you never know when it might just give out...or you could just rebuild it now. How many miles do you have on yer truck?

Try checking inside the cab where the rod attaches from the pedal and goes through the firewall. I will wager you have fluid running down and under the carpet and that means the clutch master seal is going bad. Possible rebuild or replace time. Clutch masters will self bleed unlike brakes and if you keep filling it, you will ruin the carpet and peel the paint off the floor. (no big deal)

The truck has 230,000 and runs like a champ. I did check the inside and found nothing leaking onto the carpet. I probably should just rebuild since its all original.
