Speedo bounce

My speedometer needle bounces a little bit at most speeds - anyone had this problem before? My hunch would be the speedo cable needs some lube - any thoughts?

ACK! My '86 does that, I think they all do it a little bit but if its fluctuating between over 5 mph you got problems bud. Id just WD-40 the cable, I had to do that to my choke the other day cause it was sticking.

I get an annoying buzzing sound when cold from the speedo. How intensive is it to pull the cable, lube , and re-attach? Does it require taking apart the dash? That would be an issue because even with 113k on her, there isn't one sqeak inside the cabin.

I replaced my Speedo cable trying to fix the same thing. $75 from dealer. Helped, but it is probably the rpm speed sensor on the back of the cluster. Electronic tach not mechanical. $250+ at dealer. 96 T-100 4X4 5 spd. Hope this helps.
