1. Did you have to use the Spindle Nut Conversion kit? I can't tell if it's required or if it just makes replacement easier.
2. Did you see any improvement in gas mileage? That's really the only reason I'm considering hubs right now - if it doesn't make a dent in mileage then I'll leave it alone.

Thanks!
It's funny, I was wondering the exact thing the other day, regarding gas mileage. There must be a small benefit. There's gotta be an opinion out there somewhere.
I think I'll work the basics first, straight 80W gear oil in the diffs, 5w-30 in the pan, K&N filter with the deck-plate mod, rock hard tires, good coat of wax and 60mph on the highways (if you're behind me - sorry, just go around ;>
I didn’t need the Spindle Nut Conversion kit. They bolted right up with no problems. Didn’t see much of an increase with gas mileage. I installed the hubs to save my CV joints and front-end parts. I run 38” Super Swampers and my torsion bars are adjusted up a little.
Did the hubs last night - cake. Don't know why everyone says you have to have the spindle nut conversion - they fit just fine with the normal spindle nuts. Only question is if I have to keep the little axle bolt & washer on or not - if I tighten it then the axle spins with the hub - if I loosen it a bit then the hub spins freely which is what I want. Don't know if the axle can work it's way out if that bolt is removed or what.
Are you talking about the bolt and washer that keeps the axle shaft from sliding out? I put those back on. I don’t remember having any problems with that. The hubs are a nice mod. It might not save much on gas but it should save on maintenance.
Just joined this forum and found this thread. I put Warns on my '98 T100 soon after I bought it and left it like that for years. The Warns were fine (no conversions needed... straight bolt on after removing the cone washers and flange) but they started to rust a bit as can be seen in the pic below. the Warns looked great inside when I took them off... no rust or anything.
I recently decided to replace the Warns with rebuilt Toyota Aisins. Here's some before and after pics:
