different Sr5 packages question

Im looking at buying either a 97 sr5 or 98 dx truck both have similar mileage and price and wondered if there was anyway to tell which sr5 package is on the 97? I also wanted any opinions on whether the sr5 is worth the price difference, in this case around $1000. I see that they have more chrome, slider window and power locks windows but is there anything that makes it a better hauler or anything? Truck will be daily driver and occasional work truck but never hauling or towing anything major just some tools, lumber, etc.

AFAIK, the SR5 gave you the power options and chrome with the sport buckets and center console. The sport buckets are really comfortable with the adjustable lumbar and tilting headrest. Mine was loaded so it has the towing pkg with trans cooler. I don't think that the SR5 had anything that made it special in terms of performance over a DX, just appearance and convienience options. I paid more for a SR5.

On my 97 DX the previous owner says it had the tow package. But what I see is just a 2x2 inch sleeve attached to the bumper . . . not the frame. Is the factory tow package frame-attached and is the wiring a harness hanging or is it a socket on the bumper?

The factory tow package is frame attached. The plug just hangs though.

I got some more info on the 98 dx which has power windows and locks, slider window, cd player, and newer brakes and tires so it looks like I wouldn't be gaining much in the sr5 package with the 97. I saw a possible flag about them saying that the drivers power door does not work and the motor on an installed sunroof is dead and doesn't open. Is this just a normal thing that can happen with age or could it be a wiring problem original to the vehicle? (have a 97 blazer now that has had every electrical problem known to man and noone was ever able to fix it so I am gunshy when it comes to electronics) Problem is now that my carfax expired on the 29th so I cannot do at least a basic check.
