P 303 Mis-fire Cylinder 3

Good-morning,afternoon,evening or goodnight depending on your Geo-location.Name is Daryl, from So. Cal, I have a 97 T 100 with the 3.4 fuel forced injection it has around 113,000 miles no major mods just a regular But-Hauler, hauls my butt from one place to another. No problems till the other day---ENGINE LIGHT!!! Oh boy 2 readings of misfire on cylinder 3, figure that`s because of the weird single coil thing. Seems only to be noticable when cold, so far that`s only when check engine light comes on. Does anyone have any thoughts for this old style carb type motor? Did run through the post search, maybe worded wrong? Thanks To All Who May Have Taken The Time To Read, Thanks Mostly To That Special Someone That Comes Through!!! Daryl

Auto or manual? 2WD or 4WD? Last time you did or had a tuneup done? Have you run Seafoam through yer truck lately?

Thanks For Re-plying
It`s an automatic w/4wheel drive. 1st happened up at Mom & Dad`s left it there and they took it to their little mack-man to repair. He replaced belts, timed and did a tune up. pulled plugs on 3&6 cylinder did look like much was really going on. As for the cold thing, I can really notice it when it`s cold, don`t know if it goes away or if something else makes up for it after it warms up, seems like a little mis but by now I could be making things up in my mind.
Hope this might give a better insight- what about the Seafoam?? Is this because I`m a building Inspector for The City of Malibu????
Thanks Again

same problem

Hey daryl.

I have the same problem on my '96 4wd manual. 96,000 miles. Plug wires are nearly new as are the plugs. I replaced the plugs anyway and it didn't clear up the problem. Some at AutoZone said it's probably "winter" gas...? Nonetheless...did you ever solve your problem? Did you try the seafoam?

Did use SeaFoam didn`t see much of a difference. Finally found the problem. The iodit up by my mom & dad`s that tuned it had thought I had put in the wrong plugs. When looking at print out of plug order, 1994-1996 then at botton 1995 4.0 .......
1994 3.8...... the bone head didn`t look at bottom of page. I had the right plugs in. when I pulled #3 took a closer look it had 3 cracks around the bottom. Changed to what I had before run great!!
