I don't expect to do this until it warms up a bit outside, but I've gotta replace the glass in the driver's side mirror. It cracked while I was scraping ice off of it - which I've never done before.
It's just the glass - everything else works just fine. Does anyone know of a source for replacement mirror, or will I have to make a template and cut my own? Is this going to be trickier than I expect? Anyone done this?
If the mirror is cracked but still together you can get a film which is easy to cut to the right size and self-adheres. I used this on an old jeep and it worked out well. Other than that, you might be able to source just the glass or a manual mirror. Do you have electric or manual? I'm not sure if the mounts were the same.
Thanks - well, not perzackly well, but they did go - which works.

This is the electric, adjust from controls on the inside of the door mirror. It's cracked, but still intact, and I'm a tad nervous about pieces falling out after a jury-rig repair - but then again, the pieces are still all there, without any film holding 'em together. Where did you get the film? If you say it worked on yer old jeep, I'm willing to give it a shot on my new-ish old Toy.

Hopefully, not going to film school....
I got it at VIP, about in 2003 though so I can't remember all of the details and they may have changed anyway... My guess is that any such place will sll it
I dunno what VIP is, but the link is all I need - muchas gracias! If that stuff works better than a star-cracked bit of glass, and I don't need to worry about the glass falling out in 4 months, then that's where I'm goin'.
Again, thanks!
Danno, preparing to look behind himself - much easier.

VIP is just another shitty auto parts store with a rip-off service center attached that they have in the north-east here. I'm sure you've got an equivalent... Friendly staff and parts guy, but run like hell from service.
