automatic t-100

I think I have decided to look for a t-100 instead of a pickup. If I get one it willl be a 95 or newer with the 3.4 and 4x4 ext cab. How are the automatics in these? How do they do mileage wise compared to the 5spd? Any known issues with them that would keep me from buying one with auto? It will be a daily driver, and I will pull a small aluminum boat from time to time.. Thanks.

my 97 gets between 19 and 21 strictly highway, and I can do that well over all if I drive very conservatively. On a recent trip from Maine to NY I got 19.5 going as close to 80 as traffic let me the whole way. I have dunlop street tires (this helps) and a cap (debatable).

4x4 3.4 automatic.

I've had no problems with the auto. 216k right now. Some people after really high millage have their flex plate crack, but this seems to be relatively rare...

the ext cab wasn't available in 95. 96 thru 98 only. Haven't calc'd my mileage yet, but there are other threads with tips on optimizing your MPG (replace oxygen sensors, tire inflation, etc. Good choice on going with the T.

The 1995 truck was available with an Xtra-cab. I remembering driving one when they first came out (in 95) and I have numerous 1995 literature with the 1995 T100 Xtracab.

The 3.4 came first and then several months later the Xtracab came along.

My 95 actually belonged to my oldest son for a while. I think he was making "How tough is a Toyota" commercials with it for most of the time he owned it. He sold it to me and I use it for parts for my 97 T100. It has saved me much more than the $2400 that I put into it. I intend to run my 97 for a long, long, long time.

There are some things that will not interchange. The 95 is a 5 spd and the 97 is Automatic. Other than that and those things associated with the transmission all parts are virtually interchangeable.

I have no problem finding them on craigslist, autotrader, or cars.com. Anything particular yer looking fer besides an ext cab and a 5-speed? What price range? Power package? Cruise? What kinda mileage? Any particular color? Where are you located?
