I have a Uniden PC78 LTW and I want to put it in my 97 T100 and I can't think of a good place to put it. Anyone have any ideas?

I've got a '97 T100, and if I were gonna put a squawkbox in, it'd be mounted vertically on the driver's side of the central console, where the radio, heater controls, and ashtray live. It might be a bit of a tight fit, but it'd be handy to the hand.

I've never liked it much, but I've seen a lot of people mount to the roof, just aft of the rearview mirror. The mic cable will be forever wavin' about, but it's livable.

The other option would be under the seat over the trans hump - but there, you'd be workin' the controls by touch, and I avoid that where I can.

If you're not a smoker, carving away the ashtray and lighter, and mounting the radio where they live would work, but it'd be some surgery - more than I'd want to do, even if I didn't use the ashtray.

Can't you stick it under the radio in the 2nd DIN slot?

I would if it wasn't a a 1/4 inch to wide on both sides.

Any other suggestions?

Make some custom brackets and attach it to the 2nd DIN slot. It will be hanging out and the display facing somewhat up towards you but it will be in the ideal spot.

Of course, unless you remove it everytime...it will be prime fer being stolen...

You could also mount it inside the armrest but then you won't be able to see squat...

You might even be able to mount it off the seat with a few custom brackets so it will be just in front of the middle section or right behind the 4x4 lever. I'd feel sorry fer anyone who had to sit in that middle section though...

I'd probably put the mic hook where the coin holders are...

BTW...have you taken the bezel off to see if you can make any "adjustments" to the opening to git it to fit?

It's fairly easy to take off and check. Would take about 1 minute of yer time... It just pulls off...

Maybe some pictures will shed some light on this.

Ignore all of the wires in there. Those are from my brake controller and hitch & trailer cameras. Normally it would be barren behind there.

There's more room under the ash tray / lighter than you realize. Pop the plastic panel that goes from below the ash tray / etc to the carpet off (two plastic clip-bolts, one on the left and one on the right). It may not be wide enough for your CB, but you may find that with the plastic popped off you can fit the radio far enough back to please you. If you like it there, just cut the plastic or buy a junkyard spare.

I really think below the radio is another option. There is quite a bit of room there, as well.

Cheers,
Rob

here's my CB

Check out where I put mine. Needed a 90 degree elbow for the antenna wire but otherwise works great.

I am intrigued but I can't see an image/link of where yours is.
