Thermostat Vs. No Thermostat

Tell me what you guys think. Should I run a thermostat or not. I know the engine will heat up faster with the thermostat, but then again I know you don't need one either.

A thermostat was placed there for a reason. If you don't have one your truck won't get up to normal operating temperature and your truck will probably give you problems down the road. The automotive engineers put one there for a reason, just leave it be.

If yer engine runs too low on temp too long, yer ECU will throw a code eventually. It's not that hard to replace the thermostat...

Pretty sure low temp will increase fuel use as well. If a t-stat stuck closed on me at a point I couldn't easily get a new one, I'd pull it and do without until I could. However, I wouldn't recommend running without one as a normal condition.

....and running without a thermostat, you have no flow restriction, will have actually much less cooling, the bypass channel for coolant wont ever close and the normal flow of coolant will be hampered.

You're begging for alot of problems running without a thermostat.

Thats one of those old school tricks that really dosent apply to modern engines. If you dont want any problems with it just leave the t-stat alone and change the coolant at the proper intervals.

A thermostat costs like what - 10 bucks tops? Two bolts and its installed. Put a new one in.
