10W40 Oil?

I changed my oil for the first time since I bought it (two weeks ago) and the Valvoline 5W30 conventional oil doesn't seem to be cutting it.

Does anyone use 10W40? If so, how does your engine perform with it?

What is happening with the 5w30?

Oil weight and brands are pretty subjective

10w40 will work just fine. you don't really have to worry to much what weight you use in a place like florida where the temperatures are i guess...temperate

the oil cap on the 5vzfe says 5w30, guessing that's why you went with that?

I did go with the 5W30 due to the oil cap, but later I was reading in the Owner's Manual where it does recommend 10W30 when the temp is above 80 and right now it is 97 in North Florida.

I think I will try the 10W40 and see if I get a more consistent feel from the engine.

Depending on temperature I use 10-40 Mobil syn. Never rely on the oil cap instead use manual data. That number is just to prevent liability from manufacture in case of blown out oil seal in the new engine.

^possibly. in my case the chart in the manual that bases it on temperature told me the same kind of oil as what's on the cap. Now that i think about it it's either 10w30 or 10w40 i really don't remember
