So I was in the wife's 2001 Camry and noticed that her blower is pretty strong compared to what's in the T-100.
I wonder if the blower motor from the Camry can be swapped into the T-100...found a local source fer the Camry blower motor...about $20. Gonna give this a try and see if it matches up or not. Gonna pull the blower motor from the dead 93 T-100 and bring it with me to see it any parts can be interchanged fer some extra blowing power.
Hey Bam. New user, but I found this thread a month or two back. I had the same iquestion about the fan (blower) motor. It sure seems like the truck (esp the xtra cab) would cool off a lot quicker with a decent fan. Any luck with the upgrade using a Camry blower?

No...I never got that Camry blower motor. Still tempted to...I'll have to look it up on www.car-part.com and see what's still available. It should be...I don't think it's a high demand part...

I had another strange idea...maybe an upgrade of the wires to a bigger gauge would give some better performance?

This seems to be a common problem and I wondered if a better connector and bigger gauge wire would take care of the problem.
It could be from the brushes gitting worn down/out/dirty and causing a higher amperage load on the wires...not sure.
I'll still move forward with comparing with the Camry blower...maybe I can learn something from it.

I think my fan and the wiring is fine...it doesn't cut out or anything. I think toyota just developed that blower for the regular cab in 93, and never upgraded it when the Xtra cab came along. That being said, I think a bigger blower motor would likely require heavier wiring as you are saying Bam.

my fan got chewed on by mice.... so it barely blows at all. i need to replace the fan blades... but the motor seems fine.
luckily for me, the mice havent chewed on anything else yet - like the wiring etc. (that i know of).
I HATE THEM MICE!
Make sure you give the system a good cleaning...however...you don't want to use anything that might attack the aluminum AC evaporator. Also, you might want to give yer system a good looking over to see where they were gitting in and git that fixed up pronto.

Well...I decided to go in a different direction. I installed my small Vornado air circulator along with a power inverter so I can circulate the air to the back part of the Xtra cab portion and git the air temps cooler and stable quicker. I still have to make a strap so the Vornado doesn't fall over when I'm making turns.

Bam, that's not a bad idea. I may try something similar, but maybe with a smaller (compact) fan. I have been meaning to put a power inverter in mine anyway. Sometimes it's the simple fixes that seem so obvious after someone brings it up!

Well, my fan blower motor started dying on me the other day. The fan wouldn't come on with the HVAC controls, but if I left them on, and banged on the bottom of my blower motor, the fan would start back up. Well, that worked for all of four days, then the motor just wouldn't turn very fast at all (even on high). I pulled it out, kinda sorta cleaned it, and plugged it back in. The wires and plugs were all fine (some slight browning of one of the plugs, but nothing significant). So...
Here's the wierd part. Holding the fan where it would go, the fan was very slow as before. I turned the fan facing down, and it sped WAY up to normal high (I assume). Strange. I don't think the wiring is an issue as i manipulated it every way I could to see if they are craked or otherwise compromised. No changes, except when the blower fan and motor are turned upside down.
My guess...yup...the blower motor is shot for whatever reason Time for a new one! I wonder how long I haven't been getting the full force of the fan? I briefly thought about upgrading to a 4Runner or Tundra blower, but I will check with Toyota to see if they fit, but I think the T100 blower is model-specific. Anyone else know for sure?
