I Love My Truck, but there are a few minor things that I wish were different. On the other hand, I don't think any vehicle is perfect, if there were, they would never redesign them, and a 2006 would look the same as a 1976, but new. I would still buy a new Tacoma again and love it.
Did you guys read the comment left on the review. Ranger still sells more than the tacomas hahaha. And that most people traded their tacomas for f-150 hahaha Ford sucks ass.
My tacoma seems to be getting better whith the miles. Im close to 30K miles the vibrations in the cab seem to be going away and the truck runs so smooth. .
The Bottom Line: The new gold standard for small pickups
Toyota's new Tacoma midsize pickup truck, totally redesigned and updated in 2005, is really mopping the floors with its competition. In the first two months of this year, Tacoma sales were up 28.4%, to 26,145 units, quite a contrast to the huge drops suffered by rival models. During the same period sales were down 20.7%, to 12,569, for the Ford (F) Ranger; 24%, to 10,843, for DaimlerChrysler's (DCX) Dodge Dakota; 41%, to 10,845, for General Motors' (GM) Chevy Colorado; and 46.2%, to 25,564, for the GMC Canyon, the Colorado's sister model.
Get it right! Midsized!

Clearly Toyota knew what they were doing when they exaggerated MPG figures for the V6 Tacoma. I love my truck but I don't think I get any better gas mileage than an F150. A lot of people are buying Tacomas instead of full size trucks because they think high gas prices are here to stay.

I would like to think that it is more related to the new design and the quality reputation Toyota has built.
With the Gov's madating that refineries use Ethanol vs the old E85 additive, we are definatly in for as far as gas prices (This june or July/ Great timing Bush!) the Ethanol producers are not ready to handle the demand this summer. Here comes 3.00 a gal!
NOVA - what mpg are you gettting? Is it mainly DC traffic? I am getting 19-20, was 17-18. But, I did switch to synthetic? I think they have reverted to the summer non-oxygented gas here so you should see an improvement.

I was getting 17 or so, and 18.5 hwy under gentle driving conditions on secondary roads. i haven't been very anal about checking btu I usually look at the half tank marker as a signpost, and I was getting 180 with gentle hwy/city mixed, right now I ma getting 140 per half tank, with gentle driving and some occassional full throttle accelerations.
No question the new design makes Tacoma a hot truck, but I think thier mileage claims are exxagerated and that probably influences a lot of people who think they are going to get it...

is your taco an 05 or o6? I had the same exact problems on my 05 prerunner accesscab offroad, it had way too many squeaks and rattles from everywhere. Since I got the 06, i have yet to hear a single squeak or rattle and sometimes I drive with no radio and I LISTEN for noises. so far zero! toyota does a great job of making fixes pretty quickly.

People bought this truck because of Toyota's name and the new design. I didn't buy it for the MPG! And if you were concerned about MPG then you should have bought a Corolla or Prius. So getting anything above 16 MPG with a 4.0/V6 with 240 HP is great if you ask me. Yes, it could be better...but that will be when "HELL FREEZES OVER" when the finally release V8's and V6's that get over 30 MPG (which they have had to the technology for decades!)
Sorry people but complaining about gas prices and blaming it on others ain't gonna change "ANYTHING!" Bottom line is we need to rely on our "OWN" resources and then we will start to see a change.
