USA Tire Pressure Sensors

Hey guys, new here. great to find you too !
Got a question about the Tire Pressure Monitoring System and putting rims on, other than those that came with the truck. I have the steel rims ( 16" ) with the sensors. I would like to buy the Baja rims from Toyota Parts dept and have them put on as replacments with the same tires. Do I have to buy new sensors or can these sensors be put on the newer rims?
Not very educated on this Tire Pressure Monitoring System and it looks like it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

There is way for sure if they will mount up 100% you might have to live with the dash light on unless you feel like doing this mod How-To: Disable the 2006 Tire Pressure Monitoring System

here is a sensor on an alloy wheel

Thanks for the info. I am still wondering if the old sensors, once changed out onto newer rims will cause any problems. I would think that they only need to be reset, but then again, I don't really know. I don't want to have to tear down the console to disable the system and we shouldn't have to live with a light on. Maybe I just don't fully understand the set up yet.

From my experience, there may be (from time to time) instances when you need to have the dealership reset your sensors. One is when you put new tires on, two change wheels. These may not always turn the light on but they can. The only place that can reset them is the stealership. They typically charge $50 to $75 dollars to reset the system. They have to plug into the OBDII connector and reset it.
