I'm looking into lifting my truck in the next month or month and a half and have been looking around at the different 3" lifts that people have been putting on their taco's. I have a 2005 dbl cab short bed with a bed cover on the back and was just wodering if anyone has a suggestion as to which type of lift is better, the spacer lift or the add-a-leaf lift? Everyone i know who has a lifted truck has a spacer lift, so i am more inquiring about how the add-a-leaf lifts perform. Thanks for the insight

AAL are for the back and it is not 3 inches. It's about 1 to 1.5 inches.
You need a lift from Toytec or Revtek if you are looking for a spacer and AAL lift.
It is best to use AAL in the back rather than blocks, especially if you have extra weight in the bed like the cover you mentioned. The AAL will help against sagging.
BTW: You should introduce yourself, maybe i'll see you around since you are in Sunnyvale! Did you get your truck at ToyotaSunnyvale? I did!!!
no need to flame....hes asking a legitimage question....
welcome to TN...
to answer your question....and i did a lot of research before i bought my lift
from what i read...and what ive experience with the lift i got....
blocking the rear is fine if you are only going to drive on the road
offroading will break the block
AAL (add a leaf) will stiffen the rear suspension and tends to add squeaks in your leaf springs however, it also gives you a little more carrying capacity
i opted to go with a toytec lift...230 bucks shipped to my door
its a spacer in the front, AAL in the back.
if you will be doing serious offroad...dont do the block in the back
if you will need your truck to be quiet on-road...go with the block....
I've had both and I can say that the AAL is far better for the rear. On my previous Tacoma, with the block, I had a wicked vibration that for the longest time I thought was coming from the tires. I now have the AAL on my new Tacoma and I love it, no squeaks at all...

TOYTEC SENT ME THIS INFORMATION FOR ANY INTERESTED PARTIES: The new part number for the coil kit is OME3-05-AL. It is $289.99 plus $30 shipping to 48 states and will consist of a 3” front kit with OME 884 coils, top plate spacers, studs, and the Alcan add-a-leafs for the rear. Also available will be 1” block kits that will work with the add-a-leafs for the 05 Tacoma for those who have a camper shell, or weight in the rear. Contact ToyTec for more information on this kit since it is not yet listed on their website.
Already have the AALs, .5 inch spacers and studs. Original larger spacers were sent back to Toytec after I found out about the coils. I'm just waiting for the coils to arrive. Should be here tomorow unless UPS screws up again!

would you guys get the 3" lift kit from toytec that taco5 posted with the 1" block for the back? Im just curious if the back would look higher in the back with the 1" block when there is no weight in the back? also can this be installed at my house? i have a decent amount of tools and friends to help me out... My buddy has a 05 tundra dbl cab and his tundra has a lift on it and hes got alot of outside stuff done to it... Ill post some pics of his to see what you guys think. He painted the lower side of his truck with roll on rino liner which looks good on his car but dont think i would do it on my ride...
Plus AZ is a good place to keep cars looking good. No rain or salt.
True.. And don't forget I was an Ohio boy back in the day too. Born and raised on the East side of Cleveland, I truly appreciate this weather....!!!!!!
