Glass Breakage Sensor - adjustment

The alarm on my '05 Tacoma goes off when someone just slightly quickly closes the door in our garage - not even close to a slam. Does anyone know if it is possible/how to reduce the sensitivity of the alarm? Thanks

If you pull the glovebox out, you should be able to find and adjust the glass-break sensor. It and the main control box are mounted to a bracket there.

Unhappy How to set off Glass sensor

I have the opposite trouble. I can't set off my alarm to test it.
the RS3200 will alarm if I unlock and open the door from the inside but if I tap on the glass or even the little microphone on the dash beside the light it never goes off. The dealer adjusted the sensor but it still won't alarm by noise.
Can anyone set off their alarm by tapping on their glass with a key? their nuckles?
My old alarms would go off when an F18 flew over, I doubt this one would if a grenade blew up under it.
Thanks for checking for me!

You can test the GBS by
1. Close all the windows.
2. lock/arm the alarm and wait about 30 seconds.
3. Tap the center of the driver side window with your key.
This should trigger the horn alarm. Press your unlock button on FOB to disable the trigger.

Be very careful when you tap your window due to you can potentially break your window. I remember they have a big notice not to do the test during cold and hot weather condition due to the risk actually breaking the glass. I can't remember if it is in the owners manual or the VIP supplemental manual where I read it on how to test the sensor.

I was able to do this test with a very light tap with my key on the middle of my driver side window.

You will see the little black box but you can't see the adjustment w/o pulling down the box off the metal bracket. I used a flat head screw driver to pull the metal clip off the plastic dot under it on the right hand side.
once it is off the bracket you will see it at the back of the black box and again with a flat head screwdriver you adjust the sensitivity.
8 is what they recommend.
I am going back to the dealer because I can't set it off. Thanks.

UPDATE: How to set off Glass sensor

Hurray! the glass sensor works for me .
I retested before I marched into the dealership, I hate getting egg on my face.
It sets off when I bang around in the cab, if I tap the microphone. It also will go off if I tap on the glass for a while, I guess it needs a fair amount of input before it goes off.
Hurray!

location and adjust ment on 07 Camry

HI guys,

I know I'm in the wrong forum, but this forum had the most info. I still need help. My sensor will not go off either, took it to the dealer, they supposedly set the sensitivity to max, still won't go off. They said the glass has to break, B.S.

Could someone please tell me where the sensor adjustment is? 2. where the microphone is? and 3. if it is behind the glove box, how do I remove it to access the adjustment.

I went at this yesterday... you have to remove the glove box... lay your back on the passenger side floor and look straight up in the center... use a phillips screw driver and drop the black sensor box down... there will be a little adjustment on the box... 1-11 (If I remember correctly)... I tried btoh extremes with no luck.. BUT I had the front windows down all the way while I was working on the truck.. I will make an attempt to adjust it again when I have time and make sure I have the all the windows up and wait 30 seconds for it to arm.
I set mine on 8 and was half tempted to get a piece of glass out of the garage and smash it with a hammer outside of the truck just see if it really worked since they claim breaking glass sends off a high pitch frequency..

On a 2011 Tacoma AccessCab 2wd, glass sensor refused to go off at setting 8, set it to 11, it will then go off when a thick 8 oz glass is tapped with a knife edge; still seems insensitive if the windows are tapped. I am trusting that breaking a window will do it.
